چکیده
ZnS:Cu,Cl,Mn,Te, which shows red AC powder electroluminescence (ACPEL) emission, was synthesized using a conventional wet synthesis and a sealed vessel method. The photoluminescence (PL) and ACPEL were characterized. After the second firing, 0.5 wt% tellurium (Te)-doped ZnS: Cu,Cl,Mn,Te phosphor shows almost red PL emission from the T1– A1 transition of Mn 21 ions, which are affected by the Te. Extended x-ray absorption fine structure analysis on the Mn K edge proved that the substitution of sulfur (S) with Te changes the local crystal field of theMn ions and shifts an orange emission (;588 nm) to a red emission (;650 nm). A red ACPEL emission is first shown in 0.5 wt%Te-doped ZnS:Cu,Cl,Mn,Te after the third firing phosphor even though its luminance is not very high. The origin of the ACPEL emission is assumed to be not a CuxS–ZnS p–n junction but a CuxTe–ZnS p–n junction. Raman spectra were characterized to support that the red ACPEL emission is probably attributed to a CuxTe–ZnS p–n junction.

Fabrication of a Functionally Graded Copper-Zinc Sulfide Phosphor
Functionally graded materials (FGMs) are compositionally gradient materials. They can achieve the controlled distribution of the desired characteristics within the same bulk material. We describe a functionally graded (FG) metal-phosphor adapting the concept of the FGM; copper (Cu) is selected as a metal and Cu- and Cl-doped ZnS (ZnS:Cu,Cl) is selected as a phosphor and FG [Cu]-[ZnS:Cu,Cl] is f...

We present time-lapsed microscopy and EXAFS/XANES data on size selected ground ZnS:Cu,Cl and ZnS:Cu,Mn,Cl phosphors to probe long standing problems in using these phosphors in high brightness applications. The time-lapsed study shows that many of the individual emission centers on each particle degrade via large step decreases while < 50% have a monotonic decrease. These large steps suggest a b...
متن کاملLuminescence properties of Mn doped Zn2SiO4 phosphor films synthesized by combustion CVD
Zn2SiO4:Mn 2+ phosphor films were successfully prepared by a novel combustion chemical vapor deposition (CCVD) method. In the CCVD process, a flammable solution, containing precursor materials, is atomized and sprayed through a specially designed nozzle and ignited to form a combustion flame. This enables crystallized films to be directly deposited onto a substrate in open-atmosphere with no po...
متن کاملPHOTO AND ELECTROLUMINESCENCE STUDY PHOSPHOR PREPARED BY DIFFERENT METHODS OF ZNS:CU
ZnS : Cu phosphors were prepared by using laboratory grade chemicals through coprecipitating Cu along with ZnS using H2S and thiourea. Photo- and electroluminescence studies indicate that these phosphors have better emission characteristics compared to the phosphors in which activator is externally added. Phosphors with luminescence at ~530nrn were prepared. The difference between the character...
متن کاملSynthesis and characterization of oxygen doped ZnTe for powder phosphor application
The synthesis of efficient ZnTe powder phosphors is very difficult due to its high moisture sensitivity and chemical instability during processing. In this study, an efficient ZnTe:O powder phosphor for x-ray imaging application was successfully synthesized by vacuum firing ZnTe powder prepared from ZnTe bulk crystals ball-milled in an O2 atmosphere. The phosphors were characterized by x-ray di...
